Adding a pre-built path to your script
While steps in a script path may be specifically labeled to coincide with the path name, there are six standard paths that are generally built into each script. They have the following suffixes: 1, 2, 3, Msg, Other, and Specific Person. You might see FirstName1, LastName3, RegardingOther and so forth. Pre-built options are located below the ********* in the Call Script Builder step menu.
NOTE: Once you've added your new path, please read How to Assign a Call Path to a Specific Profile to ensure that messages following that path are going to the right person.
From your SAS Desk portal, click on the Scripts menu on the left. You will see your Active scripts listed. Click on the Details icon to the far right of the script you would like to edit. Then, click the blue Edit your script button in the top right corner of the next screen.
Before you can add a pre-built path, you'll need to double check each existing path and make note of its Step Label. If you already have a path that ends in 1, 2, 3, Msg, Other or SpecificPerson, you'll want to select a different option.
Click the + to expand your script paths. In the example below, each step in the All Other Calls path ends in Other. If you select 'Other' as your pre-built path, it will duplicate the All Other Calls path handling.
NOTE: For more information on Step Labels, please read How to Label a Script Step.
Now that you've made a list of any pre-built paths currently in use, it's time to add your new path!
Click the first step below your script name.
Then in the bottom left corner of the Greeting step, click View Options. A window will open showing you all the paths in your script.
Click Add New to the bottom left of the number column. A blank line will appear highlighted in yellow. In the first box, select a number for your path. Then in the second box, enter your path name.
NOTE: For more information on numbering, please read Changing the Order of Script Paths.
To the far right of the yellow line, click Add. Your new path will now appear in the Option column.
Click the X in the upper right corner of the pop-up to return to the main scripting screen. Then click Save in the bottom left corner of the Greeting step. Your paths will repopulate showing the new path in the order you selected.
Now click the + to expand the name of the path you just created. Below the path name, you will see a red dot followed by the words New Step.
Click on New Step, and from the Step drop down menu on the right, select the FirstName field of a pre-built path that has not already been used.
NOTE: Pre-built options will be listed below the *************!
Click Continue. Your path will automatically repopulate with the most common information fields.
In this example, let’s say that you do not want to include the Address or Best Time steps, and you would like the script to go directly from Email to Regarding.
Click on the step prior to the one(s) you do not want.
On the right, click on the drop down menu under Next Step. Then, select the correct next step – Regarding3.
NOTE: The suffix of the step you choose must correspond with the others.
Click Save in the bottom left corner. Then, expand the + next to the path you are editing. The steps now go from Email to Regarding, bypassing Address and Best Time.
After you have edited the path, don’t forget to go back to each step (except PhoneNumber and/or Email) to Skip Verifications.
NOTE: For more information on verifications, please read Requiring Script Steps and Skipping Verifications.
