How a rate plan change will affect your invoice
NOTE: The information and formulas below are applicable whether you are on a per-call or per-minute rate plan.
If you upgrade your plan
We bill you one month in advance. If you upgrade your rate plan and choose to have it backdated (making it effective the first day of your current billing cycle), the change goes through immediately. You will receive an invoice due on receipt for the following:
- A credit that covers what you already prepaid for the current billing cycle
- The regular monthly charge for the new rate plan that you selected
Then, your monthly invoices will be adjusted to match the new rate. Here is an example. Let’s assume that you are currently on the 100-minute plan, and you decide to increase your rate plan on August 10 th to the 500-minute plan. On August 10th, you would receive an invoice showing:
- What you'll see: September's new base rate
- How it was calculated: According to the new 500-minute rate plan you selected
- Corresponding charge: $589.00
- What you'll see: September's old base rate (shown as a credit)
- How it was calculated: Your initial September payment was credited
- Corresponding credit: ($139.00)
If you downgrade your plan
If you downgrade your rate plan and choose to have it backdated (making it effective the first day of your current billing cycle), the change goes through immediately. You will receive an invoice showing:
- A credit that covers what you already prepaid for the current billing cycle, minus the cost of the lower-plan you are changing to
- A credit for the higher rate that you already paid for the next billing cycle
- The regular monthly charge for the next billing cycle at the new lower rate
Then, your monthly invoices will be adjusted to match the new rate. Here is an example. Let’s assume you are currently on the 500-minute plan and you decide to decrease your rate plan on August 10 th to the 100-minute plan. On August 10th, you would receive an invoice showing:
- What you'll see: September's new base rate
- How it was calculated: According to the new 100-minute rate plan you selected
- Corresponding charge: $139.00
- What you'll see: September's old base rate (shown as a credit)
- How it was calculated: Your initial September payment was voided
- Corresponding credit: ($589.00)
- What you'll see: August’s old base rate less the cost of the new 100-minute plan (shown as a credit)
- How it was calculated: According to the new 100-minute plan you selected, backdated to the 1st of August
- Corresponding credit: ($589.00-$139.00) = ($411.00)
